Smith Investigations, Inc. is a licensed Private Detective Agency in the States of Illinois and Indiana. Smith Investigations, Inc. has been court appointed as the investigators on behalf of the defense in many death penalty cases in central Illinois through the Illinois Appellate Defender's Office, Death Penalty Trial Division. In those cases, Smith Investigations, Inc. is paid through the Illinois Capital Litigations Fund, not the respective County or the appointed Attorney. Smith Investigations, Inc. currently conducts Pre-Employment Background Investigations for a variety of businesses throughout east-central Illinois. We have many years experience in this area and have access to a wide variety of information that allows us to obtain this information more quickly than National Background Companies.
